On The Edge

Trstles (CA-USA) is one of the most famous/funny/performance/crowded wave on the planet, and is also the reign of King Kelly who has won here 6 times and has made practically always the final. In the last two here for sure his heir is for sure Gabriel Medina.
The young Brazilian has won here the Lowers Pro (6 star ASP) and showed some of the most incredible tricks.
Will he be the next king of Trestles?
Comment yourself the two styles compared!

Joel Parkinson is an Australian Surfer who competes in the ASP World Tour.  Known as “Parko” was born in Namboro and grew up on the Gold Coast with fellow surfer Mike Fanning.  He started surfing as a child with his father’s surfboard.  “Parko” soon was competing in contests with his friends Dean Morrison and Mike Fanning.  The three of them were known as “the Coolangatta kids”.  It was during these years that Parko developed his own style and won the ASP World Junior Championship.  He became the youngest surfer to win a Billabong contest, at a world event.

In 2001 Parko graduated to the WCT finishing 21st in his rookie year.  In 2002 he climbed to second position where his fast growing reputation as a serious title contender became apparent.  2003 he dropped to fifth, Parko refocused in 2004.  2005 his first child was born and although Parko doesn’t regret missing two events to be there for the birth of baby Evie some wonder if Andy irons would have claimed that title if he hadn’t.   2006 Parko  has a solid start with ninth and a second from the two Australian events.  2007 saw Parko once again finish in the top five with a solid string of results bar one slip up at he Boost Mobile Pro at Trestles in California.  While he was in the running he lacked the event wins he needed to claim world title.   2009 Parko’s three victories at the Billabong Pro Jeffries Bay, Rip C Pro Bells Beach and Quicksilver Pro gold coast ranked him back to #2.    In 2011 Parko ranks #2 .

– Fanning needs to win at Pipeline to take the 2012 ASP World Title.*
*Contingent upon Slater finishing 5th or Lower at Pipeline.

If Parkinson finishes Equal 3rd at the Billabong Pipe Masters:
– Slater needs a 3rd or higher to take the 2012 ASP World Title.

If Parkinson finishes 2nd at the Billabong Pipe Masters:
– Slater needs to win at Pipeline to take the 2012 ASP World Title.
– Fanning cannot win the 2012 ASP World Title.

If Parkinson wins the Billabong Pipe Masters, he will take the 2012 ASP World title.

The Billabong Pipe Masters, the third jewel of the Vans Hawaiian Triple Crown of Surfing, will be run from December 8 – 20, 2012.
